4 Zephaniah
Friday 6th June
The class has returned fully refreshed after half-term and have worked hard on practising for sports day, doing their multiplication timetable check and preparing for our Create Day on 8th July. In English, they have been showing off their creative minds by inventing some magical objects. We had some football boots that guarantee you score a goal, some glasses that get rid of annoying siblings, magical playing cards, magical glue that gives electric shocks and a drink that gives you super speed. The class then designed posters advertising their product using many persuasive techniques. In Art, their amazing clay pots are now ready to be painted.
Friday 23rd May
What a great week to end this half-term! Zephaniah class continue to enjoy reading the class text and have become very good at making predictions about what could happen next. The class was inspired by the book and have been busy writing care guides for a Minotaur and a Cerberus. In Maths, we have continued to learn to tell the time using both 12-hour and 24-hour times. We were very fortunate to have had our final 2 cricket coaching lessons this week. If any children have enjoyed these coaching sessions, please see below the local clubs they can join.

Art this week showed the children's wonderful creativity as they made their own Greek pots out of clay.
Friday 16th May
The class are thoroughly enjoying their Ancient Greek topic and have been learning all about Alexander the Great's Empire. In English, we have started our new class text, 'Who Let the Gods Out?' by Maz Evans, which links to our History topic. The children have been researching and creating fact files about the mythical creatures we have met so far in the text. Science this week was learning all about our teeth and the different roles they play in helping us digest food. The class were fascinated by the dental x-rays they were shown. Maths has continued with time and the children have been practising telling the time to the nearest minute. We have used clocks to help us answer questions.
Friday 9th May
Despite it being a 4-day week, 4 Zephaniah have achieved a great deal this week. They have been very busy finishing, editing and then completing a published version of their amazing myths. VE Day's 80th Anniversary was celebrated with a delicious picnic and some amazing posters were designed by the class celebrating this important day in our British history. In Maths, we have started to revise time. Cricket continues to be a great success!
Friday 2nd May
This week the class has been busy planning their own myths. The sunny weather has helped inspire us to describe some amazing settings for our myths. In Art, the children have been learning all about Clarice Cliff and her use of colour and pattern in preparation for their own pottery designs. Their double-page spreads were very informative. For the next 6 weeks, the class are very fortunate to have an extra PE session where they are learning how to play cricket with The Chance to Shine coaches.
