Our Viking Ship Painting Project

The children in Class 3/4R used sponge painting to create their backgrounds. They then used different painting and brush techniques to create the sea, including sideways strokes to create a water pattern, and paint splats for a more splashy/foamy look! They tore the seascapes into wavy strips, and created a collage by layering them over each other to look like waves.

The children used water colours to paint a Viking ship/oars/shields, drew lines on the ships for a wooden effect, and then glued these onto their picture amongst the waves. They then used oil pastels to create a sail, which they carefully stuck onto the pictures to create a 3D/blowing in the wind effect.

And they look fabulous!!
