Our Healthy School

Our campaign for a healthier school was launched in summer 2003, with each class making a large cardboard platter depicting a healthy breakfast. These were then displayed at a Healthy Eating assembly before being hung in the main corridor to remind everyone of what they should be eating to give themselves a good start to the day!

The next stop was lunch. The classes were challenged to plan and create a model of a healthy lunch box. The finished products were then displayed in the dinner hall. Chocolate bars were replaced with cereal bars, yoghurts and fruit. Crisps were replaced with cheese triangles, breadsticks and other savoury snacks. Cocktail sausages, hard boiled eggs and carrot and celery sticks made other healthy alternatives to fill a lunch box. Pupils are encouraged to bring a bottle of water to school to be sipped at water breaks.

The tuck shop joined in by selling flapjacks, fruit and healthy tuck from Monday to Thursday. As everyone is entitled to a treat, Friday is free choice day and pupils may bring any snack of their choice.
