Stanway Primary School about 1 week ago
The Y3/4 football team took part in a local school tournament this morning battling against the wind and rain as well as 3 other teams across 5 matches.
Overall, the team came 4th place and should be very proud of their achievement - they played with enthusiasm, dedication, sportsmanship and with a real team spirit.
The results:
Stanway 1 - 0 Baynards (A goal from Ben to get the team off to a flying start)
Stanway 2 - 3 Mersea (Another 2 goals for Ben, but a last minute goal from Mersea gave them the win in a tight game)
Stanway 4 - 0 Baynards (2 goals each for Ben and Oscar - a great win!)
Stanway 1 - 2 Mersea (Another tight game where the wind really played its part against the team)
After these 4 games, the team were placed 2nd and then played the 2nd place team in the parallel league: St Lukes
Stanway 0 - 1 St Lukes (A tight game which saw an effort from Oscar hit the bar as Stanway put pressure on for the equaliser)
A huge well done to Ethan, Charlie, Oscar, Reuben, Stanley, Frankie and Ben.
